READtober Challenge Sparks a Love for Reading at John T. Waugh Elementary

John T. Waugh Elementary wrapped up its READtober Challenge, a month-long reading competition created by Teacher Assistant Julie Ames to inspire students to read for fun.
Throughout October, fifth-grade students tracked their reading minutes with the goal of reaching 300 minutes by the end of the month. Meanwhile, Ms. Ames challenged herself to keep pace—and by month’s end, she logged an impressive 2,875 minutes by mid-October!
The friendly competition brought out students’ enthusiasm and teamwork as they shared favorite stories and celebrated each other’s progress.
Congratulations to Ms. Ames and the fifth-grade classes for making reading a highlight of the fall season at John T. Waugh Elementary!
