Haudenosaunee Stories and Culture Shared at JT Waugh Elementary

JT Waugh Elementary welcomed Haudenosaunee storyteller Perry Ground for an engaging assembly featuring “Stories from the People of the Longhouse.” Students listened, laughed, and learned as Perry used traditional storytelling, humor, and movement to teach about the Haudenosaunee people and their long history in this region.
After the assembly, JT Waugh’s 4th graders took part in a “Life in the Longhouse Village” breakout session. They explored what daily life looked like in a traditional Haudenosaunee community, learning about family roles, food, tools, and cultural practices that continue today.
We appreciate Perry Ground for giving our students a memorable and meaningful learning experience.
