J.T. Waugh Elementary Brings Massive Impact to Bald for Bucks
ANGOLA, NY – The J.T. Waugh Elementary community has shown overwhelming generosity in the fight against cancer. District officials announced today that JTW students, staff, and families raised an incredible $763.41 during their recent "Jar Wars" event, contributing significantly to a monumental district-wide total of $21,958 for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The "Jar Wars" initiative served as the elementary-level counterpart to Lake Shore’s beloved Bald for Bucks campaign. While older students and staff across the district opted for the signature shave to raise funds, J.T. Waugh’s Eagles proved that spare change can create a powerful wave of support. By filling classroom jars with nickels, dimes, and quarters, the JTW community turned everyday coins into critical funding for Roswell Park.
A Lake Shore Tradition of Service
This year’s success is especially meaningful, as Bald for Bucks was founded right here at Lake Shore 24 years ago. J.T. Waugh Elementary continues to champion this hometown legacy, demonstrating a deep commitment to community service that inspires the entire district.
“We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and kindness displayed by our J.T. Waugh Eagles,” said district organizers. “Every coin collected represents a lesson in empathy and the incredible difference that even our youngest students can make when they come together for a great cause.”
Fueling Critical Cancer Research
The $763.41 raised by J.T. Waugh will go directly toward life-saving research and compassionate patient care at Roswell Park. The district’s total collection of $21,958 marks a near-record year, proving that the spirit of giving and "Eagle Pride" in the Lake Shore Central School District remains stronger than ever.
J.T. Waugh Impact: The building raised $763.41 in spare change, helping the District reach a grand total of nearly $22,000 for Roswell Park!
